Dan Edson:
Welcome to Highlight My Town. I'm Dan Edson with eXp Realty and I'm here with Clyde Aufner and Cara Beck here at Missouri Mud, this is exciting. Missouri Mud's been around a while. Tell us how long you all have been here.

Clyde Aufner:
Well Mom opened it in 1999. She had always. Her grandpa had a candy company and a restaurant and she always wanted to follow in his footsteps, so a Greek deli and coffeehouse is what she came up with and the rest is history.

Dan Edson:
Greek deli and coffeehouse, so tell me what are some of the popular items here at the store?

Clyde Aufner:
Well the most popular would probably be our Reuben sandwich and our beef gyros, they're really popular.'

Cara Beck:
Potato soup.

Dan Edson:
Potato soup.

Clyde Aufner:
Potato soup, yeah, I think some of the things to try would be like our Greek salads our really popular that maybe not everybody knows about and that would be a good place to start.

Dan Edson:
So try the Greek salad. This is fantastic food here. Me and my wife come in quite a bit and we enjoy everything that you guys make here so everybody should come in and try this place out. If you've just moved to town here in Raymore, maybe you don't know some of the places to check out.

Missouri Mud is definitely one of the places to check out.

Dan Edson:
So you guys do breakfast, lunch and dinner here. A lot of people might not know you do breakfast. I know but you said a lot of people might not know that you guys serve breakfast here.

Clyde Aufner:
Yeah. We open at 5:30 during the week. So we have breakfast and lunch. We close at 3:00 so dinner, we get people to take it to go or take it for later generally. Just kind of cut it close and then just take it back later, either cook it themselves or warm it up.

Dan Edson:
Awesome.

Dan Edson:
So tell us about the daily specials Kara here at the shop.

Cara Beck:
Okay, Tuesdays we usually do like soup and have sandwich or salad, depends. Wednesday's baked Greek chicken and potatoes. Thursday is the Euro sampler platter and Friday is Greek spaghetti.

Dan Edson:
So which day is most popular?

Cara Beck:
Fridays.

Dan Edson:
Fridays?

Cara Beck:
And Thursdays, yeah. Because we make spanakopita on Thursdays but yeah. Greek spaghetti, Fridays. It sells out.

Dan Edson:
So Clyde, you cook here in the chicken so Fridays you're probably slammed I'm guessing.

Clyde Aufner:
Yeah. It's been picking up more and more but Fridays are probably our biggest day. Friday or Saturday, but ...

Cara Beck:
Yes.

Clyde Aufner:
We try to ... If people ask for different things, we also have a pastitsio which is like a Greek lasagna, sometimes people ask for that. Sometimes people ask for the Greek meatloaf. We'll just do it kind of earlier in the week usually and if people ask for it, we try to do it, so ...

Dan Edson:
Awesome.

Dan Edson:
So you guys are coming up on 22 years of being here in Raymore and you've probably seen the community change quite a bit. Tell us what you like most about being here in the community.

Clyde Aufner:
Absolutely. I was a pretty young man, I think I was 11 or 12 when she first opened and just the change in Raymore has been outrageous. It was just a little farming town, not a lot of people, just seeing what it's growing into now is pretty incredible. The people, the new businesses and all that. A lot of change, a lot of good, a lot of bad, but over the years, just the people, the friendships we've made, that the people that come in are regulars and we get a lot of new people so we can make some new contacts and new friends and whatnot so that's probably been the best part about all these years.

Dan Edson:
You have your loyal customers and then you probably have their kids and generations of customers coming in now since you've been here for so long.
