The All-New Christmas on Main is Illuminating the Streets of Belton, MO

The holidays are a time for community, joy, and spending time with loved ones. Belton is rediscovering the meaning of holiday cheer and bringing the festivities right to our city streets. Belton’s Christmas on Main is back again this year, and better than ever. Through the pandemic, many of us missed out on the community events that make the holidays so special. The newly reimagined Christmas on Main has created an experience the whole family can enjoy. It’s an interactive event that offers light shows, photo ops, local shopping, and food vendors. It’s time to start celebrating the gift of community again. That’s the mission of Christmas on Main.

KC Holiday Light Pros Light Up Downtown Belton Main Street

With the help of KC Holiday Light Pros, the streets are decked out in spectacular lighting displays that you can walk through, and enjoy with your family. The event kicked off to a great start on November 27th with the lighting of the tree, live performances, games, and a stunning parade. Main street is home to many of our small businesses, which are perfect for discovering unique holiday gifts for your friends and family. The annual window decorating contest makes for a fun competition for local businesses. Each storefront hosts a different theme and window decor for the holiday season, so bring your kids out to spot your favorites.

If you’re looking for a great place to take family photos, stop by Candy Cane Lane. This extra-special spot is home to a seven-foot-tall tree, lights, and decor that make it the perfect gathering spot. Christmas on Main is a great way to get your holiday shopping in while making sure your kids are having a blast. The Operation Santa fundraiser will also be going on all month, so keep that in mind if you want to participate. You can donate canned goods and unwrapped toys to help spread the love this holiday season. Belton’s Christmas on Main is all about bringing people together and raising holiday spirits.

Gingerbread Weekend At Christmas On Main

If you didn’t get to make it to opening night on November 27th, get prepared for the festivities coming up on Gingerbread weekend. On December 3rd-4th, bring your kids out for photos and games with the Gingerbread man himself. You can pick up a gingerbread kit at the town’s favorite, Mary’s Mountain Cookies. If you’re down for the challenge, you can submit photos of your Gingerbread creations. The winner will be announced Christmas week, so make sure to get your submissions in. Gingerbread Weekend has something for all ages, so come out with your family, indulge in some cookies, and enjoy the event.

Community Ugly Sweater Contest And Live Music

There will be events going on throughout the month of December, so there’s plenty of time for you to come enjoy the fun. If you’re an ugly Christmas sweater lover, there will be a community contest held on Friday, December 9th. There are some great prizes, and you’re guaranteed a laugh even if you don’t wish to participate. The next day you can come out and enjoy some live music at Broken Hatchet, where the TNT band will be performing. There will also be delicious food offered by our vendor, Lueck’s Barbecue. His restaurant will be opening next year, so this is a great opportunity to come try it out for yourself.

The Grinch Visits Christmas On Main

The weekend of the December 17th is Christmas on Main’s Grinchy weekend. Bring your kids to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas at Candy Cane Lane and play tons of Grinch-inspired games. If you’re lucky you may even meet some of the Whos from Whoville and the Grinch himself.  Don’t miss a story time with Martha Mayhew that will take place over at the Wild Poppy from 3:00 PM to 530 PM. The Grinch and friends will also be appearing at Main Street Performing Arts Center, Marcella’s on Main, and Broken Hatchet Brewery. You can take pictures with the Grinch, Martha May and Cindy at the locations mentioned, and other locations along main street that evening.

Community Prayer Night On Main Street

On December 21st there will be a community prayer night, joined by our local churches. There will be candles, prayer, and choir singing that will serve as a beautiful pre-Christmas celebration. Belton is honoring the reason for the season and wants to celebrate alongside you.  Bring your family and friends, and come be part of this special community event.

Support Christmas On Main And Our Local Businesses

Keep an eye out for the donation spots around Main Street. Volunteers will be walking around with a special bucket to accept donations. This not only supports that charity for the night, but it assures Belton can keep doing this for years to come.

The festivities at Christmas on Main are a great way to support local businesses, connect with the community, and have wholesome family fun. Make sure to stop by when you can, and enjoy the holiday spirit of Belton.
